Our Story...
In 1999, Trina Finley and her husband, Jamey, had the vision to bring the spirit of Christmas to senior citizens in local nursing homes. Similar to the style of Angel Tree, the Golden Angel Tree centers around residents of six nursing homes in north Mississippi. These "Golden Angels" are too often forgotten about throughout the year. Many of the residents' families do not have the means to provide for their relatives after their medical bills, and others just simply don't have any family left.
To help make the lives of their residents more enriched, the staff from the six nursing homes collect requests from each of the residents. These requests are then delivered to Chick-fil-A to be placed on a Christmas Tree. The request tags are available to all customers that visit the restaurant. Each tag has two to three items that the resident has requested. These are usually simple gifts that range from a set of clothes, music players, or bedding. Once all the gifts have been returned to Chick-fil-A, the nursing homes collect them and distribute the gifts during their yearly Christmas parties.
